Transform Your Walls: Texture Painting for Stunning Decor | 2024

If you want to give your home a new look, one of the methods that you can try is to give one of the walls a TEXTURE LOOK.

WHAT IS TEXTURE PAINT?

Texture paint is a different kind of paint that gives a textured look on the wall. Texture painting can be used as an alternative to wallpaper and thus cover the imperfections present on the wall. Texture paints need less care as compared to normal paints and are more compatible with conditions like fading off etc and as a result, they linger for a longer period of time. It is more protective against UV rays.

GLOSSY AND GRANULAR:

Texture paintings give your walls a nice and glossy look as it is also available in metallic paint look. Along with being glossy, it is granular because of the sand particles present in the paint that will make the walls get the texture look.

TYPES OF TEXTURE PAINT!

Texture paint is generally of two types that include:

  • Smooth texture paint:This ensures smoothness in the paint and there are no sand particles present in this paint. This gives the walls a stucco effect.
  • Sandy texture paint:This gives a gritty look to the wall because of the present sand particles in the paint.
To start up with the texture painting you need to follow the following steps:

1)ENSURE THAT THE WALLS ARE CRACK AND HOLES FREE:

Texture paints will give nice looks only when it is done over a smooth wall. So before you start up with your wall make sure that your walls are holes and cracks free. If not you need to make it up with putty and leave it to dry for a day.

2)MIX UP THE CONTENT PRESENT IN THE PAINT DRUM:

So when you are going to dip your paintbrushes or rollers in the paint drum you need to make sure that the content in the paint drum is mixed properly so that there is no interruption in the painting process later on.

3)DIP YOUR ROLLERS OR BRUSHES IN PAINT AND GET SET GO:

The last step includes dipping the paintbrush or the rollers in the paint drum and starts with the painting process. Start with the upper level of the wall coming downwards and then making a W-shape on the wall and then spreading the paint with ease. This will lead to uninterrupted painting and will give beautiful results after it is dried up.

You can use a paint spray as well. This will lead to quick interior painting and better results. Paintbrushes can be used for smaller regions and edges.

PRECAUTIONS:

Always remember that you take these safety measures while painting your walls:

  • Cover the furniture and doors with some old bedsheets so that they are not spoiled with the paint. Cover lamps etc with painter’s tape.
  • The ladder that you use to reach the ceilings should be serviceable.
  • Use gloves and masks to prevent contact with chemicals.
  • Do not leave the paintbrushes bare on the floor.
  • Do not leave the paint bucket open on the floor as it may fall if somebody steps on it thereby creating a mess.
